She grew up on Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Joan Baez, Billie Holiday, to Janis Joplin, Canned Heat, James Gang and Tom Waits to John Haitt and Neil Young. She is an outstanding vocalist and an adept performer on acoustic guitar captivating her audience with the intensity of her performance. Baker's clear, strong commanding vocals capture and hold the audience's attention convincing each and every listener the song was just for him or her. She has opened for artists such as Johnny Winter, Savoy Brown, Tab Benoit, Coco Montoya, Debbie Davies, Popa Chubby, James Montgomery, Commander Cody, Duke Robillard, Saffire, Livingston Taylor and Donovan. On the Main Stage of the North Atlantic Blues Festival, Rockland, ME in 1999, Baker has performed for several years in the Festival's Pub Crawls. Solo PR:

"She’s got soul and passion and sings and plays as if she was born on stage...I’m so not sure she wasn’t! Pam Baker, Portland’s very own blues queen, was definitely in town and on the Blue stage last Thursday night! Performing the blues of various shapes and sizes, she always seems to get to her audience with that irresistible elixir of bluesy guitar, powerful vocals, and sheer presence. Pam Baker holds court at the Blue every third Thursday of the month at 8:00 P.M."

~ Barry P. Martin, Proprietor of Blue

Pam Baker’s in town!
"She’s been a huge presence in the local blues scene for sometime and for good reason! Pam Baker plays and sings the blues as if she was born on stage. Belting out the blues, whether she’s playing solo or with accompaniment, Pam makes you feel anything but blue and always draws you in like a cup of hot chocolate in a blizzard. She will clown and sing and play and pour it out right from her heart, but at the end of the day just know that you’ve seen Portland’s real Blue’s Queen! She has opened for such artists as Savoy Brown, Johnny Winter and many others. Pam Baker has played the blues on the Blue stage many-a-night. We welcome her back…treat yourself to a memorable performance ‘cause Pam Baker’s coming to town!"
